What is Yottaa?
Yottaa ( \yō-tə\ ) is a unit prefix in the International System of Units (SI) denoting a factor of 1024 or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. It has the unit symbol Y. The prefix name is derived from the Greek "òκτώ (októ)", meaning eight, because it is equal to 10008. Some of the common SI prefixes are kilo (103), mega (106), giga (109), peta (1015), exa (1018), zeta (1021), and yottaa (1024).
The Yottaa Story
Yottaa's Mission:
Yottaa's mission is to make the web faster. We are obsessed with page speed, site monitoring and web performance optimization (WPO). While we love staying up day and night working on web performance, we do not think everyone else should be as obsessed as we are.
The reality is that Web performance is a complex IT problem. It is mostly done manually today by highly specialized engineering resources. The technology landscape is challenging and ever-changing. The process is time-consuming and expensive, and requires constant attention. While Google can hire the best engineers to deliver fast web performance, most websites do not have the technical know-how or financial resources to do so.
Yottaa Website Monitor Launch:
We think there are better ways. In September 2010, we released a web performance assessment and monitoring service (called "Yottaa Website Monitor") to enable website owners to assess, benchmark and monitor their website performance. With the help of our tireless Yobots, thousands of websites have adopted Yottaa Website Monitor for site monitoring and diagnosis.
Yottaa Site Speed Optimizer Launch:
Yottaa's newest service (called "Yottaa Site Speed Optimizer") speeds up web sites and web applications in just a few clicks. Yottaa Site Speed Optimizer is a sophisticated globally distributed system of cloud services that automates the vast array of WPO techniques, best practices and recommendations. Yet all that a customer needs to do is a few clicks. We call it "automagic".
